Designer Duties

In brief:

  • Check client is aware of his/her duties
  • Check  Principal Designer has been appointed
    • Must be appointed by the client. Until the appointment has been made, the duty falls on the client (Commercial Client).
  • Eliminate hazards and reduce risks during design
  • Provide information about remaining risks arising from your design
  • co-operate with others
  • Provide information needed for the health and safety file

Note: a designer must have the right skills, knowledge and experience, and be adequately resourced to address the health and safety issues likely to be involved in the design.
